Most popular home interior color trends for 2022

Colour trends change fast - it is hard to keep track of them all. We have prepared this guide to make it easier for you to navigate the current interior design tendencies and apply them to your space. Ready for a colour shock?

Do you remember these times when white, beige, and grey were basically the only colours used in interior design? It was not that long ago! Fortunately, the hegemony of ultimate minimalism has end, making space for different colours. Just like in 2021, in 2022, you should not be afraid of letting your imagination run wild and creating vivid colour combinations. But which colours are the trendiest currently, and how to implement them in the space to create a balanced interior design? We have gathered the most recent trends and some tips that will help you incorporate them into your interiors.

Before delving into 2022's trendiest palette, a quick note - these are just the suggestions that should inspire you to create a space that you enjoy spending time at. What matters is that you feel comfortable and at home - the trends should never be in the first place.

#1 Very Peri

Named Pantone's 2022 colour of the year, Very Peri is a subtle change after the last year's ultimate grey. Bright blue falling into purple, it is energizing, smooth and eye-catching. Plus, it fits the modern interiors as well as the vintage-stylized ones.

Very Peri may be challenging to combine with other shades, though. Since it is so bold, you should not use it in excess - one or two details are enough. You may sneak it on furniture - think about the sofa, armchairs, or a rug in this stunning colour! But we also recommend putting it on the walls. Covering all the four walls with this bold blue may be too much, but one or two is simply perfect. You can also paint the ceiling with it to achieve a baroque-like effect. And if you want to refresh your wooden panelling, this colour is a perfect choice! It looks very classy and modern with a panelling texture.

Which colours can you combine Veri-Peri with? We recommend using warm shades to break it a little. If you want a neutral shade to go with this blue, go for warm beige rather than white. Very Peri will look stylish combined with various kinds of wood, particularly those of darker, reddish shades like mahogany and red oak.

#2 Pale green

The pastel greens have already been interior designers' faves for a few seasons - but in 2022, they are paler than ever! In 2020 and 2021, we would choose a washed-off forest or bottle green, pairing it with millennial pink, white, and various kinds of wood. Now, it is time for pale olive and sage. They combine beautifully with the natural tones of wood, jute, rattan, or bamboo, but the truth is they will go well with literally anything unless it is not very modern and bold. Saturated red, blue, or yellow details will not go well with it. Thus, if you are searching for a colour to repaint your interiors without having to change anything else, pale green may be a good match!

#3 Carmine

Most people avoid red in their interiors since it is so bold. Those familiar with the psychology of colours know that it may have a stimulating effect and sometimes even cause anxiety. But in 2022, the interior designers take a new take on the red, favouring the shade that brings the Southern vibe in. Carmine looks stunning on the walls and paired with a minimalistic palette dominated by beige and white. If you add some clay and wooden details, you will end up with a rustic effect. But that is not the only way to incorporate this shade in your interiors. You can also create a baroque interior design, pairing it with dark blue or dark green and adding some eclectic furniture and golden details.

Just like the Very Peri, the carmine will look great on the panelling. We do not recommend using it on all the walls - the effect may be too overwhelming. Carmine and white walls in 50:50 proportion is a safe choice. If you are looking for qualified painters in London that know the most current trends and can put them into practice, reach out to us.
