#1 Invest in good rollers and brushes
The skills matter, but without good tools, it will be difficult to make the most out of them. In order to achieve the best effects, select the best brushes and roller covers. If they are of low quality, it may be more difficult to distribute the paint over the wall without any bumps and marks. Choose paint brushes and rollers over chip brushes - the last ones make it more difficult to avoid leaving marks and fuzz.
There is another advantage that results from choosing better quality tools - durability. More expensive brushes and rollers can be used few times without compromising the effect.
#2 Clean the surface with appropriate materials
The preparation of the wall is a step you should never skip. Why? Because the cleaner the surface is, the more chances are that the paint will adhere well and last long without cracks. To prepare your wall, you should remove leftovers of the previous layer of paint. Then, it is time for sanding and washing.

To protect the surfaces that are not supposed to be painted, use the painter's tape. You may have considered the usual one, but we definitely do not recommend that. The painter's tape is safe for your surfaces and makes it easier to keep a division between two colours.
#6 Cover clean areas with masking film
This tip often comes as something new for amateur painters. And it can make the whole process much easier! Masking film allows covering flat surfaces with a thin layer. Once it adheres to them, it will not move from place to place. This way, you will be able to achieve the effect of perfect edges and divisions.
